english country estate
Walter Pytialk and Company crafted a 600-square-foot addition and managed the renovation of the existing 4,000 square foot home. Its gentleman’s library, formal European kitchen, beautiful baths, extraordinary living spaces and more completed this transformation into a dream estate. Interiors by Perlmutter-Freiwald were perfectly chosen to complete the look.
Stately English estate details are found everywhere, from the foot-tall, nine-piece crown molding in the marble-tiled foyer and great room, to the custom fireplace surrounds and staircase, the cherry-wood bath, and the Bella Cucina kitchen that won a design award for its furniture-quality cabinetry design and the custom tile commissioned for the backsplash.
The gentleman’s library is an interesting case study into the level of care that went into finishing details. The paneling and millwork was crafted of poplar to be painted and faux-finished. Plans changed and the poplar was first coated with a semi-transparent glaze, then finished with five coats of stain and varnished to a burnished-silk luster.
